Lakshadweep madrasa teacher arrested for assault on minor aboard ship

A madrasa teacher from Lakshadweep has been arrested following allegations of sexually assaulting a minor on a ship traveling to Kochi, officials said. The incident came to light after the nine-year-old girl disclosed details of the alleged assault to her mother.

Upon receiving the complaint, the child's mother immediately informed the vessel's security personnel, who took the accused into custody while the ship was in transit. The swift action by security staff prevented the suspect from leaving the vessel and ensured the preservation of evidence related to the case.

Following his detention, the accused was handed over to appropriate law enforcement authorities for further investigation. Preliminary inquiries are underway to ascertain the full circumstances of the alleged incident and gather statements from relevant witnesses aboard the ship.

The case has raised concerns about child safety in shared spaces and the responsibility of authorities to maintain vigilance during maritime travel. Authorities have indicated that investigations are proceeding and that appropriate legal measures will be taken based on findings.
