MADRID — Three more clubs from Spain's LaLiga have joined a growing initiative to cap ticket prices for away fans, bringing the total number of participating clubs to 17 out of the league's 20 teams, according to a LaLiga spokesperson.
Under the agreement, away fan tickets are capped at a maximum of €30 (approximately S$48), making matches more accessible to visiting supporters across much of the Spanish top division.
The move reflects wider European efforts to promote fan accessibility and reduce barriers to match attendance. Football authorities across the continent have increasingly faced pressure from supporters' groups to address rising ticket costs, which have become a concern for many fans attending away matches.
With 17 clubs now signed up to the price cap initiative, LaLiga has achieved significant participation in the scheme. The three remaining clubs have not yet committed to the agreement.
The pricing agreement comes as European football continues to grapple with issues of fan engagement and affordability in an era of rising operational costs and competitive spending in the sport.
