The two caves, located in Nam Da commune, have been honoured with national relic status in recognition of their distinctive geological features and cultural value. The designation was announced on October 30 by Le Thi Truc Linh, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The Krong No volcanic cave system represents a rare example of cave formations created through volcanic processes in the region. The newly recognised sites are expected to attract increased attention from researchers, conservationists, and visitors interested in Vietnam's natural heritage.
The national relic designation provides formal protection for the sites and may facilitate future conservation efforts and sustainable tourism development. Lam Dong province, located in the Central Highlands, has emerged as a significant destination for cave exploration and geological study in recent years.
The recognition reflects Vietnam's broader commitment to identifying and preserving nationally important geological and cultural landmarks. Officials have not disclosed specific details about visitor access or future management plans for the newly designated sites.
