Lanao del Norte attack suspect dies after being struck by truck

ILIGAN CITY — The suspect in a string of violent crimes that left one woman dead and three others injured in Lala, Lanao del Norte, met his end when he was hit by a truck while attempting to cross a roadway, authorities reported Monday.

The Philippine National Police identified the fatality as Mario Polinar, a resident of Purok 4A, Barangay Cabasagan. According to the police report, Polinar was allegedly responsible for a fatal attack on a woman and three separate wounding incidents that occurred in the Lala area.

The circumstances surrounding Polinar's fatal encounter with the vehicle remain under investigation. Police did not immediately clarify whether the truck driver was aware of striking the suspect or provide additional details about the incident.

The death eliminates the immediate need for an arrest in the case, though authorities continue to gather information about the attacks and their motive. Investigators are reviewing evidence from the incidents to determine if any additional persons were involved in the violence.
