ILIGAN CITY — Healthcare delivery in Lanao del Norte took a major step forward Friday with the installation of the province's first computed tomography (CT) scanner at Kapatagan Provincial Hospital in Kapatagan. The diagnostic imaging device represents a substantial upgrade to medical services available in the region, potentially eliminating lengthy travels for patients requiring advanced scans.
The CT scanner's arrival addresses a long-standing gap in the province's healthcare infrastructure. Previously, residents requiring CT imaging had to journey to other provinces or cities, creating delays in diagnosis and treatment while incurring additional costs for transportation and accommodation.
Kapatagan Provincial Hospital officials indicated the equipment will enhance the facility's ability to diagnose conditions ranging from internal injuries to tumors and neurological disorders with greater speed and precision. The scanner is expected to serve not only Kapatagan residents but also patients from surrounding municipalities within Lanao del Norte.
The deployment underscores ongoing efforts to decentralize healthcare services and bring quality diagnostic facilities closer to provincial populations, particularly in rural areas where access to advanced medical technology remains limited.
