ILIGAN CITY — Lanao del Sur's provincial government has formally extended its four-day workweek arrangement for all employees and offices under its jurisdiction, continuing cost-saving measures designed to address spiraling fuel expenses.

The decision, formalized under Executive Order No. 019, Series of 2026, keeps the compressed work schedule in place across all provincial government agencies and departments. Under the arrangement, employees work Monday through Thursday, with Friday designated as a non-working day.

The provincial government initially adopted the four-day workweek as part of its broader energy austerity program, aimed at reducing operational costs including fuel consumption for transportation and facility operations. The extension reflects the administration's commitment to managing public resources during a period of elevated energy costs.

The measure is expected to reduce overhead expenses while maintaining service delivery to constituents. Similar energy-saving initiatives have been implemented by other government entities across the Philippines in response to fuel price pressures in recent months.
