Water Resources and Housing Minister Mons Joseph was present at the proceedings, alongside Member of Parliament Anto Antony. State legislators Mani C. Kappan and N.J. Sebastian also attended the event to express condolences to the bereaved families.
The tragic landslide struck the hilly terrain of Kottayam district, one of Kerala's disaster-prone regions during monsoon season. Local authorities coordinated the identification and documentation process before releasing the remains to next of kin for final rites.
