Several barangays in Laoag City faced inundation Monday as monsoon rains brought widespread flooding and triggered landslide incidents throughout the city. Floodwaters ranged from ankle to knee-depth in affected neighborhoods, with some areas experiencing more severe conditions.
Barangay 2 bore the brunt of the deluge, with floodwaters rising to below-waist level in parts of the community. Barangay 38-A in Mangato village also reported knee-level flooding, disrupting daily activities and prompting residents to seek higher ground.
The flooding and landslides unfolded amid prevailing inclement weather that blanketed the Ilocos region. Local disaster management officials remained on alert as rainfall continued, with teams positioned to respond to emergency calls and assist affected residents.
