LAOAG, Ilocos Norte — The city government of Laoag has established Friday as a dedicated slaughter day exclusively for hogs raised by local farmers, according to Executive Order No. 017, series of 2026, issued by Mayor James Bryan Alcid.
Under the directive, the Laoag City Slaughterhouse will prioritize operations for locally sourced hogs on Fridays, creating a set schedule for farmers in the Ilocos region to process their livestock. The measure aims to streamline slaughterhouse operations while providing local producers with guaranteed access to municipal facilities.
The executive order reflects local government efforts to support smallholder and commercial farmers in Ilocos Norte by offering predictable access to critical infrastructure. The arrangement is expected to facilitate more efficient processing and reduce operational bottlenecks at the municipal facility.
Details regarding implementation procedures and any exemptions to the Friday-exclusive policy were not immediately available. The Laoag City government has not announced whether adjustments may be made for holidays or other special circumstances.
