Representative Mark Anthony Santos has endorsed the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency's (PDEA) call for the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to create a coordinated national task force to intensify anti-drug operations across the country.
Santos voiced his support for the initiative on Sunday, citing recent reports of drug-related activities involving Filipino nationals that underscore the need for a more comprehensive and unified approach to combating the illegal drug trade.
The proposed task force would bring together various government agencies and law enforcement bodies to streamline operations and improve coordination in drug enforcement activities. Such consolidation is seen as crucial to addressing the persistent challenges posed by drug trafficking networks operating within the Philippines.
The PDEA's request reflects ongoing concerns about drug-related crime and its impact on communities nationwide. The establishment of a national task force would represent a significant step toward enhancing the government's capacity to tackle the drug problem through improved inter-agency cooperation and resource allocation.
The proposal now awaits consideration by the DILG and other relevant government departments as officials evaluate the framework and implementation strategy for the proposed unified command structure.
