Law Minister Meghwal visits NLSIU; ABVP raises documentary screening concerns

Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal visited the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) in Bengaluru on Tuesday, meeting with senior faculty and officials at the premier legal institution. The visit came as part of his engagements across the region.

Following the ministerial visit to the campus, a delegation of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, sought an audience with Meghwal at Lok Bhavan, the official residence of the Chief Minister.

During the meeting, the ABVP delegation submitted a memorandum articulating their objections to a proposed documentary screening scheduled at NLSIU. The memorandum outlined the student organization's concerns regarding the content and context of the film, though specific details of their objections were not immediately disclosed.

The incident reflects ongoing tensions at Indian educational institutions over content moderation and student activism. NLSIU, one of India's most prestigious law schools, has frequently been a focal point for debates surrounding academic freedom and institutional autonomy.
