Lawmaker pushes tighter school security after Banga shooting
A South Cotabato congressman has called for enhanced safety protocols at educational institutions following a deadly campus shooting that claimed three lives and injured six students.

COTABATO CITY — South Cotabato 2nd District Representative Ferdinand L. Hernandez has urged stronger measures to prevent firearms from entering school premises, citing the recent shooting incident in Banga that left multiple students dead and injured.
Hernandez expressed his sympathies to the families of the three victims killed in the attack and the six other students wounded during the incident. The congressman highlighted the need for comprehensive school security improvements to protect students and staff from similar tragedies.
Among the measures Hernandez proposed are stricter weapon screening at school entrances and the implementation of more effective emergency response protocols. He emphasized that schools must have in place rapid intervention systems to address threats and minimize casualties during critical incidents.
The legislator's call comes as educational institutions in the region face mounting concerns about campus safety and security. Hernandez stressed that collaboration among school administrators, law enforcement, and local government units is essential to create safer learning environments for the youth.
