A Lanao del Sur congressman argues that Vice President Sara Duterte's best response to unexplained wealth allegations would have been full disclosure of her assets and business interests in her Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth.

MANILA — Lanao del Sur Representative Zia Alonto Adiong said Thursday that Vice President Sara Duterte could have effectively addressed questions about unexplained wealth by comprehensively declaring all her assets and business interests in her Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth, or SALN.
Adiong made the remarks during a press briefing, suggesting that transparent financial disclosure through the required government form would have served as the strongest defense against the allegations leveled against the Vice President.
The SALN is a mandatory financial disclosure document that all government officials must file annually, detailing their assets, liabilities, and income sources. The document is intended to promote transparency and help detect illicit enrichment among public servants.
The Vice President has faced scrutiny over questions regarding the sources of her wealth and various business holdings. Adiong's comments reflect ongoing concerns about financial accountability among high-ranking government officials in the Philippines.
