MANILA — Attorney Levito Baligod and four members of the so-called 'maleta boys' secured their release Friday night after posting bail, hours after being arrested in San Juan City on charges of unjust vexation.

San Juan City Police Chief Police Col. Anthony Gantang confirmed the arrests took place Friday morning. According to authorities, Baligod and his 14 clients were taken into custody during the operation in the city.

Police characterized those arrested as confessed bagmen, though details regarding the specific circumstances leading to the unjust vexation charges were not immediately disclosed. The swift posting of bail by Baligod and the four 'maleta boys' allowed them to be released pending further legal proceedings.

The arrests mark a significant development involving the group, whose activities have previously drawn law enforcement attention in the metro.
