Leclerc sets pace at Sepang as Norris and Antonelli pursue

Charles Leclerc powered Ferrari to the front of the field during Friday's second practice session at Sepang, signalling strong form for the Scuderia ahead of qualifying. The Monegasque driver's quickest lap put him ahead of the field at the Malaysian Grand Prix venue, with the Ferrari machinery appearing competitive on both single-lap pace and race-simulated runs.

Lando Norris, the reigning world champion, secured third position for McLaren, demonstrating that the Woking-based outfit remains competitive despite Leclerc's showing. Norris's placement suggests McLaren will be a force to reckon with as the weekend progresses toward the qualifying round and Sunday's race.

Championship frontrunner Kimi Antonelli encountered a more challenging session, finishing down in eighth position. The gap between Antonelli and the leaders will likely concern his team, though practice sessions often fail to reflect true qualifying and race performance as teams adjust setups and fuel loads strategically.

With two practice sessions now complete, teams have gathered crucial data ahead of Saturday's qualifying session. Leclerc's pace suggests Ferrari has found a strong setup on a circuit that traditionally rewards aerodynamic efficiency and mechanical grip.
