Left parties condemn police crackdown in Delhi, MP hospitalised

Communist parties have launched a scathing attack on Delhi police following what they characterise as an aggressive crackdown, with senior leaders alleging systematic abuse of detainees. CPI(M) General Secretary M.A. Baby claimed police had converted vehicles into "torture camps" and accused officers of deploying excessive force against protesters, particularly women.

Baby alleged that women protesters were subjected to cruel treatment and held for extended periods inside what he termed "mobile jails." The accusations underscore growing tensions between left-wing organisations and law enforcement agencies in the capital.

The allegations gained prominence following the hospitalisation of CPI(M) MP Brittas, who was detained during police operations. The incident has prompted sharp criticism from communist parties, which have demanded accountability and an independent inquiry into police conduct.

The claims reflect broader concerns raised by opposition parties regarding protest rights and police procedures during demonstrations. Authorities have not immediately responded to the allegations of misconduct. The incident is likely to intensify scrutiny of policing practices during large-scale protests in Delhi.
