Leopard retreats after farmhouse dog's aggressive barking in Uttar Pradesh

A leopard that wandered into a farmhouse compound in Manjhra Purb village, Lakhimpur Kheri district, was deterred from any confrontation by the resident Labrador's aggressive barking. The big cat entered the property's courtyard before encountering the dog, which immediately began barking loudly at the intruder. Faced with the canine's determined stance, the leopard chose to retreat and left the premises without attempting any attack. Security cameras installed at the farmhouse recorded the entire incident, capturing the leopard's cautious withdrawal as the dog maintained its ground. The encounter underscores how domestic animals can sometimes effectively deter wildlife, though wildlife officials continue to advise residents in areas bordering forests to exercise caution and report sightings of big cats to authorities.
