Manila — Batangas 1st District Representative Leandro Leviste is currently in France caring for his mother, Senator Loren Legarda, as she undergoes treatment for a lung and autoimmune condition, according to the senator's spokesperson Tony La Viña.
La Viña made the announcement on Friday during the Pandesal Forum in Quezon City when asked about the senator's current status and whereabouts.
Legarda, a veteran legislator and environmental advocate, has maintained an active role in the Senate despite undergoing medical treatment. The senator's office has not disclosed additional details regarding the duration of her treatment or expected timeline for her return to the Philippines.
