LIC, Norway fund, ADIA lead NSE's landmark ₹6,746 crore IPO

The National Stock Exchange of India has allocated 37.79 million shares at ₹1,785 per share to 189 investors in its ₹6,746 crore initial public offering, marking a significant milestone for the country's primary bourse. The anchor round saw participation from marquee institutional investors including Life Insurance Corporation of India, Norway's Government Pension Fund Global, and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, signaling strong confidence in the exchange's growth prospects.

Offshore institutional investors claimed 43 per cent of the anchor allocation, while domestic mutual funds captured nearly 37 per cent, reflecting healthy demand from both foreign and domestic asset managers. The remaining allocation was distributed among other categories of qualified institutional investors.

The NSE's move to go public comes as the exchange seeks to capitalize on India's expanding financial markets and the growing participation of retail and institutional investors. The bourse, which operates the country's largest equity trading platform, has emerged as a key financial infrastructure player in Asia's third-largest economy.

The anchor round's successful conclusion sets the stage for the public offer phase of the IPO, with the exchange positioning itself to strengthen its balance sheet and fund technology infrastructure upgrades. The listing underscores investor confidence in India's capital markets trajectory and the NSE's pivotal role in the nation's financial ecosystem.
