Liechtenstein PM's Vietnam visit yields bilateral breakthroughs

The October 17-19 visit by Liechtenstein's Prime Minister Brigitte Haas represented a significant diplomatic milestone, breaking an 18-year gap in top-level bilateral engagement between the two nations. Vietnam's Deputy Foreign Minister characterized the visit as successful across multiple dimensions, noting that it had established new foundations for political trust and cooperation.

During the visit, National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man received the Liechtenstein leader, underscoring parliamentary-level engagement alongside government discussions. The meetings facilitated the rollout of shared bilateral and multilateral agreements, addressing areas of mutual interest and establishing frameworks for enhanced cooperation going forward.

The visit also reinforced Vietnam's strategic positioning within ASEAN, while strengthening Liechtenstein's connections to the European Free Trade Association (EFTA). Officials highlighted the complementary nature of the two nations' interests, with Vietnam serving as a gateway to Southeast Asia's regional bloc and Liechtenstein providing linkages to European trade structures.

The successful conclusion of the official visit signals renewed momentum in relations between the two countries, with both sides expressing commitment to deepening engagement across economic, parliamentary, and diplomatic channels in the years ahead.
