KUALA LUMPUR — Opposition politician Lim Guan Eng has pressed the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to open an investigation into reported budget overruns totalling RM2.1 billion at a federal ministry, arguing that such matters warrant anti-corruption scrutiny.
The Bagan member of parliament referenced a precedent involving Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), suggesting that similar financial irregularities have previously triggered MACC action. Lim contended that the scale of the alleged overspending warrants comparable investigative attention from the anti-corruption body.
