LJP-Ram leader accuses opposition of selective criticism of Election Commission

LJP-Ram leader Chirag Paswan has hit back at opposition parties over their criticism of the Election Commission, accusing them of applying double standards in their scrutiny of the poll body.

Paswan expressed satisfaction with the Election Commission's clarifications on various matters, but argued that the opposition should not resort to selective condemnation. "Why should the opposition engage in selective criticism? How did they win in Kerala? How did they win in Himachal Pradesh?" he asked, suggesting the opposition's own electoral success undermines their credibility in challenging the commission.

The Union minister singled out Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, contending that questions should be directed at her regarding how she secured her own electoral victories. His remarks appeared designed to deflect opposition allegations about the Election Commission's impartiality and functioning.

Paswan's comments reflect the ongoing political tension between the ruling coalition and opposition parties over the Election Commission's role and performance during recent electoral cycles.
