The Lokayukta conducted coordinated raids across 11 premises on Tuesday as part of an investigation into allegations of illicit wealth accumulation against Mallikarjuna B., a Special Land Acquisition Officer based in Subramanya Nagar, Guddadahalli, Hebbal.
The searches targeted the officer's residences and office premises, as well as properties belonging to his relatives. Preliminary accounting of seized assets has pegged their value at ₹18.3 crore, though a detailed inventory is expected to follow.
The action marks an escalation in the Lokayukta's ongoing scrutiny of public servants suspected of maintaining lifestyles and asset portfolios inconsistent with their official salaries. Disproportionate assets cases are among the most significant corruption charges pursued by the agency, requiring investigators to establish that wealth accumulated cannot be reasonably accounted for through legitimate means.
Officials said further examination of financial records and documents recovered during the raids would determine the next course of action in the investigation.
