The team behind London's celebrated Bao restaurant is expanding into Singapore with a new pop-up venture at New Bahru, opening Nov 11 through Dec 28. The concept marries fast-food convenience with curated retail offerings, presenting a hybrid dining and shopping experience centred on Taiwanese cuisine and culture.
The pop-up will feature reimagined takes on traditional Taiwanese dishes, with particular emphasis on fried chicken and signature gravy-filled baos that have earned the founders a devoted following in the United Kingdom. The venue positions itself as part restaurant, part convenience store, reflecting the founders' playful approach to culinary presentation and merchandise curation.
Beyond its food and drink offerings, the New Bahru location will host community events throughout its run, aligning with the Bao brand's track record of fostering engagement with local audiences. The temporary nature of the pop-up allows the founders to test their Singapore market presence while maintaining the exclusivity and novelty factor that has defined their brand strategy internationally.
The venture represents an extension of Bao's growth beyond its flagship London location, bringing the restaurant group's distinctive aesthetic and culinary philosophy to Southeast Asia's dining landscape during the year-end festive season.
