Construction efforts at Long Thanh International Airport are entering a critical phase as Vietnam's Airport Corporation (ACV) moves to finalize essential infrastructure ahead of the facility's anticipated commercial launch in late 2026.
Component Project 3, which encompasses core airport facilities, has reached 86% completion, according to ACV. Of 16 primary construction bidding packages, four have been finished, while the remaining 12 are being expedited for completion by December of this year.
ACV has signaled confidence that most projects will meet the targeted timeline, though the corporation has also proposed securing traffic priority for expressway links connecting the airport to the Mekong Delta region. Such infrastructure coordination is viewed as essential to ensure seamless connectivity once commercial operations commence.
The Long Thanh project represents a major expansion of Vietnam's aviation capacity and is expected to serve as a key hub for both domestic and international air traffic in Southeast Asia. The accelerated construction schedule reflects mounting pressure to deliver the facility on schedule as travel demand in the region continues to grow.
