A low pressure system has formed over the east-central and Southeast Bay of Bengal, with weather authorities tracking its potential intensification into a cyclonic system. The development has prompted the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) to issue precautionary alerts across the state's vulnerable regions.
Seven districts in Andhra Pradesh have been identified as areas of concern, including Konaseema, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Bapatla, Prakasam, and districts in the Rayalaseema region. The APSDMA has classified these areas for heightened preparedness and potential rainfall activity as the weather system evolves.
Authorities in the eastern state are maintaining continuous surveillance of the meteorological situation. Residents in the identified districts are being advised to remain alert and prepared for adverse weather conditions. The Indian Meteorological Department and state disaster management officials are coordinating response measures to ensure public safety should the system intensify.
Cyclonic systems in the Bay of Bengal typically bring heavy rainfall and strong winds to India's eastern coast. State officials have urged coastal communities to exercise caution and follow instructions from disaster management agencies as the situation develops over the coming days.
