Low-pressure system strengthens into Tropical Depression Pilandok
The Philippine state weather bureau confirmed the development of Tropical Depression Pilandok on Sunday morning as the system moves across the Philippine area of responsibility. The weather disturbance was positioned well east of northern Luzon as it tracked westward across the region.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced Sunday that a low-pressure area within Philippine territorial waters had intensified into Tropical Depression Pilandok, marking the formal classification of the weather system.
As of 10 a.m., the depression was located approximately 1,225 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon, positioning it at a considerable distance from populated areas. The system was moving in a west-northwestward direction at a relatively slow pace of 15 kilometers per hour, according to PAGASA observations.
The development of Tropical Depression Pilandok represents the third named weather system to emerge within the Philippine area of responsibility this season. Meteorologists continue to monitor the system's movement and intensity as it traverses the region, with regular updates expected as the depression progresses.
