MANILA — The operator of Light Rail Transit Line 1 announced plans Friday to enhance capacity at its Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) station amid growing passenger volumes at the busy transportation hub.

Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) said it is actively installing new ticket counters at the station as part of a broader effort to improve passenger flow and reduce wait times. The measure comes as the integrated terminal continues to serve as a major interchange point for commuters traveling across Metro Manila and connecting to provincial routes.

Beyond ticketing infrastructure, LRMC indicated that additional operational measures are being implemented to address congestion. The enhancements target peak travel periods when passenger traffic typically surges at the terminal.

PITX has become a critical transportation node since its establishment as an integrated facility, consolidating various transit options in Parañaque. The station upgrades reflect growing demand on the LRT-1 network, which continues to be a primary mode of public transportation for Metro Manila residents.

The company did not specify a timeline for completing all proposed improvements or provide details on the full scope of the infrastructure enhancements planned for the station.
