MANILA — The chairperson of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board said Tuesday he has yet to receive formal documentation of a preventive suspension order issued by the Office of the Ombudsman, but stated his readiness to comply with the decision.
Atty. Vigor Mendoza II told reporters that while he had not obtained an official copy of the suspension order, he nonetheless respects the Ombudsman's determination in the matter. The suspension was reported to extend for six months, though details surrounding the underlying charges were not immediately clarified.
The LTFRB chief's measured response comes as the transport regulatory agency prepares for potential leadership transition during the suspension period. Officials have not yet announced interim arrangements or succession protocols.
The Ombudsman's action represents the latest administrative matter to affect senior officials within the transportation sector, which has faced ongoing scrutiny regarding franchise management and regulatory compliance. The LTFRB oversees public utility vehicle operations throughout the country.
