LTFRB cracks down on unlicensed private vehicles operating as cargo haulers
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board has launched enforcement operations against private vehicles illegally providing transport and logistics services. The action follows complaints from legitimate operators about unregistered vehicles competing in the cargo-hauling sector.

MANILA — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) initiated a widespread enforcement campaign Thursday targeting private vehicles operating as transport and logistics services without proper permits or regulatory approval.
The regulatory body said it launched the crackdown after receiving formal complaints from licensed transport operators who reported that numerous private vehicles were being deployed for truck-for-hire operations. These unlicensed operators have been undercutting legitimate service providers while operating outside regulatory oversight, the LTFRB indicated.
The enforcement push represents the agency's effort to maintain compliance within the transport sector and protect the viability of properly registered and licensed operators. Officials did not immediately provide details on the number of vehicles targeted or specific violations documented during the initial enforcement phase.
The LTFRB emphasized that all commercial transport operations, including those serving online sellers and e-commerce platforms, must comply with franchise and registration requirements. Private vehicle owners offering such services face penalties and vehicle impounding under existing transportation regulations.
