LTFRB directs offices to coordinate on expressway traffic updates
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board has ordered its regional offices to work with expressway operators on real-time road status reporting, following severe congestion on the North Luzon Expressway last weekend.

MANILA — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has taken action to improve communication regarding expressway conditions after a major traffic crisis clogged the North Luzon Expressway over the weekend of August 28-31.
Acting LTFRB Chair Greg Pua announced that the agency has directed its regional offices to establish closer coordination with expressway operators to ensure timely dissemination of road status updates to the public.
The directive comes in response to the severe gridlock that paralyzed the NLEx during the four-day period, affecting thousands of commuters traveling between Metro Manila and Northern Luzon provinces.
Under the coordination framework, expressway operators are expected to provide regular updates on traffic conditions, incidents, and road closures to enable both the LTFRB and transport operators to make informed decisions and keep the traveling public informed.
The board's move signals its commitment to preventing similar traffic crises by improving information flow between regulatory agencies and infrastructure operators.
