The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) announced it will commence accepting applications for special permits to operate additional public transportation services during this year's All Saints' and All Souls' Days celebrations.
According to LTFRB Acting Chairperson Greg Pua Jr., the application period will begin on September 21. The special permits are intended to accommodate the surge in passenger demand typically experienced during the Undas holiday, when Filipinos travel to provincial areas to visit family graves and observe the traditional observance.
The move is part of the LTFRB's annual effort to ensure adequate transportation capacity during peak travel periods. Special permits allow operators to deploy additional vehicles on designated routes to manage the influx of travelers during the holiday season.
Transportation operators and companies interested in obtaining special permits are urged to submit their applications during the designated period. The LTFRB has not yet announced the specific closing date for applications or detailed requirements for the permit process.
