LTFRB slaps Move It with P555.75M fine for exceeding rider limits

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has imposed a P555.75-million penalty on motorcycle taxi service Move It for significantly exceeding its authorized rider-partner capacity. According to LTFRB records, Move It was licensed to operate with 17,746 rider-partners across Metro Manila, Cebu City, and Cagayan de Oro but substantially surpassed this limit by deploying an additional 55,575 riders on its platform. The violation represents a breach of the company's franchise agreement and regulatory requirements governing the number of active participants permitted on the ride-hailing service. Move It has contested the penalty, filing an appeal with the regulatory agency to challenge the fine. The case underscores ongoing tensions between transportation authorities and ride-sharing platforms over compliance with operational limits and service standards in the Philippines.
