LTFRB slaps Move It with P555.75M fine for excess rider-partners

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has imposed a P555.75-million penalty on Move It for breaching its operational mandate by significantly exceeding the number of authorized rider-partners.

Move It was granted authorization to operate 17,746 rider-partners across Metro Manila, Cebu City, and Cagayan de Oro. However, the platform's actual network swelled to 73,321 riders, representing an overage of 55,575 partners—a violation that triggered regulatory action.

The substantial fine underscores the LTFRB's enforcement of franchise conditions designed to ensure orderly operations in the motorcycle taxi sector. Move It joins other transportation network companies subject to strict regulatory oversight as the agency continues to monitor compliance with operational limits across the country's key urban centers.

The penalty highlights ongoing tensions between ride-hailing platforms and regulators over service capacity and market control. As digital transportation services continue expanding, the LTFRB has signaled its commitment to enforcing authorization limits meant to balance market competition with traffic management and driver welfare.
