LTFRB summons bus operator after fatal Manila road crash

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has summoned the operator of a passenger bus involved in a fatal road accident in Manila's Sampaloc district, the regulatory body said on Sunday.

The collision occurred along España Boulevard, claiming at least one life and prompting immediate action from transport regulators. LTFRB acting Chair Greg Pua said the bus operator has been ordered to appear before the board to answer questions about the incident.

The operator will be required to provide explanations regarding its Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC), the official permit required to operate passenger bus services in the Philippines. The board's summons typically precedes potential sanctions or license review proceedings depending on the findings of the investigation.

The LTFRB has not yet disclosed additional details about the circumstances of the crash or whether other vehicles were involved. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the cause of the fatal accident.
