The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Saturday issued an early advisory to taxi operators and drivers, reminding them to comply with regulations as the country braces for increased passenger volumes during the Undas break.

Acting LTFRB Chairperson Atty. Greg Pua Jr. emphasized that the agency is taking a proactive stance to prevent common violations, including overcharging fares, refusing passengers, and other infractions that typically spike during major holidays.

The warning comes as transport terminals nationwide prepare for the expected surge in travelers heading to provincial destinations to commemorate deceased relatives during Undas. The LTFRB has directed its personnel to conduct intensified monitoring of taxi operations to ensure drivers adhere to regulated fares and service standards.

Drivers found in violation of regulations face administrative penalties and potential franchise suspension. The LTFRB urged the public to report violations through official channels and to verify that taxis are using operational meters during their trips.

The agency reiterated its commitment to maintaining orderly transport services and protecting commuters during peak travel periods.
