A hospital official and his friend were murdered in Lucknow after being abducted for ransom, authorities said. Pawan Kumar Garg, an assistant nursing superintendent at KGMU Medical College, and his acquaintance Sachin Vishwakarma were kidnapped with the intention of extorting 50 lakh rupees from their families.
According to police, the primary accused, Nitish Mishra, was known to Garg prior to the abduction. After securing the men in captivity, the suspects allegedly strangled both victims with rope when the ransom demand went unfulfilled. The bodies were subsequently disposed of in the Gharghara River.
The case came to light following the discovery of the remains. Investigators determined that the kidnapping was motivated by financial gain and executed by someone with prior knowledge of at least one victim. The arrest of Mishra marked a significant development in solving the double homicide.
