Lucknow University students demand rollback of hostel fee increases

Resident students at Lucknow University staged a demonstration on campus Tuesday, protesting what they characterised as sudden and significant increases to hostel accommodation fees across the institution's residential facilities.

According to the students, the fee increases have been implemented uniformly across all 18 hostels operated by the university. The agitated protesters converged outside the offices of the Vice-Chancellor and the proctor, using the gathering to amplify their demands for a complete withdrawal of the hiking measure.

The protest underscores growing concerns among the student body regarding the financial burden imposed by elevated housing costs at the university. Hostel accommodation fees represent a substantial component of overall educational expenditure for residential students, many of whom hail from economically weaker sections.

The university administration has not yet publicly responded to the students' demands or provided details regarding the rationale behind the fee restructuring.
