Heavy to intense rainfall is forecast to drench portions of Luzon from Monday afternoon through Tuesday afternoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said in its latest advisory. The Philippine state weather bureau attributed the expected deluge to the enhanced southwest monsoon being amplified by the presence of Tropical Depression Pilandok. The combination of the two weather systems is expected to produce significant precipitation across the island. Residents in affected areas are advised to remain alert for potential flooding and landslides, particularly in low-lying and mountainous communities. The weather bureau continued to monitor the system and said further updates would be issued as conditions develop.
