Mahindra & Mahindra reported domestic tractor sales of 27,595 units during August, marking a 5 per cent increase compared to the 26,201 units sold in the same month last year. The performance reflects strengthening demand in India's farm equipment sector, buoyed by steady monsoon rains that have supported near-normal Kharif sowing across agricultural regions.
Including exports, the company's total tractor sales climbed to 29,507 units in August, up from 28,117 units in the year-ago period. Overseas shipments accounted for 1,912 units during the month, according to the company's sales data.
Mahindra attributed the growth trajectory to improved precipitation patterns and the availability of government-backed farm financing schemes. The company expects rural demand to strengthen further as the festive season approaches, traditionally a period of increased agricultural spending and investment.
Beyond tractors, Mahindra's commercial vehicles division posted robust results. The company's trucks and buses business sold 2,495 vehicles in August, registering a 47 per cent surge year-on-year, signalling broader momentum across its automotive portfolio.
