MAA Group to divest assets amid going concern doubts

MAA Group has announced plans to dispose of assets as it grapples with mounting financial pressures and auditor concerns about the company's viability as a going concern.

The group reported losses of RM106.9 million for the 2026 financial year, while its current liabilities stood at RM102.5 million, outpacing current assets of RM99.4 million. This liquidity position has prompted the company to explore strategic asset sales to strengthen its financial position.

The going concern issue signals that auditors have raised doubts about whether the company can meet its obligations over the next 12 months without significant restructuring or external support. Asset disposals are expected to generate cash and improve the group's balance sheet metrics.

The planned divestiture represents a critical step for MAA Group to restore investor confidence and stabilise operations. The company has not disclosed specific details regarding which assets will be sold or the expected timeline for completion of transactions.
