KUALA LUMPUR — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is continuing its investigation into the Retirement Fund Incorporated's (KWAP) investment in eFishery, according to a statement from the Finance Ministry.
The probe, which focuses on the fund's decision to invest in the aquaculture technology platform, remains at an active stage of inquiry. KWAP, which manages retirement benefits for civil servants, invested in eFishery as part of its portfolio diversification strategy.
The Finance Ministry has affirmed its cooperation with the anti-corruption agency as the investigation progresses. The case has drawn attention due to the scale of the investment and questions raised regarding the due diligence process undertaken before KWAP committed funds to the venture.
No charges have been filed at this stage, and the investigation is continuing to gather evidence and examine the transaction in detail. The MACC regularly investigates potential irregularities involving major institutional investments to ensure compliance with governance standards and public accountability requirements.
