PUTRAJAYA — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has indicated its readiness to probe allegations of substantial overspending within the Rural and Regional Development Ministry, contingent on receiving a formal complaint from the public or relevant authorities.
The anti-graft body made clear that while no official report has yet been lodged, the commission maintains its capacity to examine the alleged RM2.1 billion discrepancy should appropriate channels deliver such documentation.
This stance underscores the MACC's commitment to investigating financial irregularities within government agencies, though the absence of a formal complaint currently prevents the launch of investigative proceedings.
The matter highlights ongoing scrutiny of public sector spending across Malaysia's federal ministries, with anti-corruption officials emphasizing that complainants have access to established mechanisms for reporting suspected misconduct or financial impropriety.
