The Madhya Pradesh High Court has rejected a plea filed against an order issued by the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) pertaining to the mandatory cadre review of Indian Police Service (IPS) officers in the state.
The Police Association had approached the CAT highlighting the repeated postponement of the cadre review process, which is mandated under service regulations. The association contended that the delays had created uncertainty among officers regarding their career progression and postings.
The CAT had subsequently issued a directive addressing the issue. However, when the decision was challenged before the High Court, the bench found no merit in the petition and dismissed it, effectively upholding the tribunal's order.
Cadre reviews are periodic assessments conducted to evaluate officer performance and determine their suitability for further advancement and posting decisions. Authorities are now expected to proceed with implementing the review process without further delay.
The ruling is expected to provide clarity on the timeline for conducting the long-pending review and resolving career-related concerns of affected IPS personnel in Madhya Pradesh.
