Madhya Pradesh has resumed its state-run bus service, ending more than two decades without a government-operated public transport system. The move marks a significant step toward strengthening regional connectivity and providing affordable mobility options across the state.
The service will be initially deployed across seven cities, with the state government committing substantial resources to expand the network. During the first operational year, authorities plan to deploy 1,500 buses across Madhya Pradesh, creating a comprehensive transport backbone for commuters.
The resumption of the state bus service addresses long-standing gaps in public transport infrastructure, particularly in secondary cities and towns. The initiative is expected to ease commuter burdens and provide an alternative to private transport options that have dominated regional mobility since the earlier service was discontinued.
