Madhya Pradesh to develop nation's largest industrial corridor

Madhya Pradesh is set to establish what officials describe as India's largest industrial belt, spanning approximately 600 kilometres across the state's three major cities. The Jabalpur-Bhopal-Indore Industrial Corridor has received government approval, marking a significant step in the state's economic development strategy.

The project envisions mobilising investment of one lakh crore rupees over the next four years, with industrial development spread across 10,000 acres of dedicated land. Government planners expect the corridor to generate employment for more than 300,000 people, addressing both skill-based and general labour requirements across multiple sectors.

The corridor's strategic location connecting three industrial hubs is expected to create synergies for manufacturing, logistics and service industries. Officials believe the project will position Madhya Pradesh as a major manufacturing destination, complementing existing industrial clusters in the region and attracting domestic and international investors seeking expansion opportunities in central India.

The March 2028 deadline suggests a phased implementation approach, with initial infrastructure development and land allocation likely to commence soon. The corridor's development is seen as part of broader efforts to decentralise industrial growth beyond established coastal and metropolitan regions, leveraging Madhya Pradesh's geographical advantages and available resources.
