Madhya Pradesh to launch mass transit scheme with 15,000 buses

The Madhya Pradesh government is preparing to roll out the Chief Minister's Easy Transport (Sugam Parivahan) bus service beginning September 25, marking a significant expansion of the state's public transport infrastructure. The initiative will introduce 15,000 buses across the region, substantially increasing mobility options for commuters across urban and rural areas.

The new scheme will operate under a public-private partnership model, designed to combine government oversight with private sector efficiency. The fleet will incorporate modern safety and tracking features, including GPS systems and CCTV cameras installed on all vehicles to enhance passenger security and operational transparency.

The government has prioritised environmental sustainability in the scheme's design, with plans to introduce electric vehicles and compressed natural gas (CNG) buses into the fleet. This transition towards cleaner fuel alternatives aligns with broader efforts to reduce emissions and improve air quality across the state.

Digital infrastructure will form the backbone of the service delivery system, with integrated tracking mechanisms enabling real-time monitoring of buses and improved scheduling.
