Madras High Court directs Aavin to promote automated milk vending in hill stations

The Madras High Court has directed the Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers' Federation (Aavin) to actively promote its 'button paal' automated milk vending system among the residents of Kodaikanal and Udhagamandalam. Justices N. Sathish Kumar and K. Rajasekar issued the directive after being informed that the automatic vending machines were inaugurated in the two hill stations on August 16 and 17 respectively.

The button paal system represents an initiative to modernize milk distribution in the region by introducing automated vending solutions that allow consumers to purchase milk directly without intermediaries. The machines were installed at strategic locations across both hill stations to improve accessibility and convenience for residents.

By issuing this direction, the court emphasized the importance of ensuring that the local population becomes aware of and utilizes the new vending infrastructure. The bench's order reflects efforts to expand the reach of Aavin's services and modernize the dairy distribution network in these key tourist destinations and residential areas in the Nilgiris region of Tamil Nadu.

The directive comes as part of broader measures to streamline milk distribution and reduce dependence on traditional retail channels, allowing Aavin to reach consumers more efficiently while maintaining quality standards through automated systems.
