Madras High Court quashes case against We The Leaders founder Annamalai

The Madras High Court has quashed a case filed against K. Annamalai, founder of the We The Leaders movement, over statements he made regarding historical figure Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar. Justice G.K. Ilanthiraiyan granted the petition after hearing arguments from both parties.
The case had been initiated by Salem-based activist Piyush Manush, who had objected to remarks made by Annamalai concerning the Thevar figure. The petitioner had sought dismissal of the charges through the high court.
With the court's decision, the proceedings against Annamalai have been terminated. The judgment marks the conclusion of a legal dispute that had drawn attention to questions of free speech and statements made about historical personalities in Tamil Nadu.
