The Madras High Court has underscored the practical limitations of police investigations, stating that law enforcement agencies cannot resolve cases with unrealistic speed or magical intervention. Justice V. Lakshminarayanan made the observation while directing a special investigation team (SIT) to submit a comprehensive status report on an ongoing POCSO case involving R. Veeramani of Gem Granites.
The court's remarks came as it assessed the progress of the investigation into allegations under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. Justice Lakshminarayanan emphasized that investigations require systematic processes, adequate resources, and reasonable timeframes to ensure both thoroughness and justice.
